Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

This is a great article, so spiritual. Temptation does not come from God, but comes from our own sinful desires. It’s in the Bible, James 1:13-15, NKJV. “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.This is surely a wakeup call for all Christians that devil will always try to tempt us but if we are steadfast in our faith we shall conquer. Like Jesus we must not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.I love this and I hope to see more on this page. God bless you

Wandering in the desert is a great title for this post that is filled with great advice and links to the time of year we find ourselves in. There is no end to the reflection that we all should take the time to participate in when considering the sacrifice that was done for all of us by Jesus.We are all tested in one way or another each and every day. If only we all could have such answers when tempted by the Devil or the worldly ways we find all around us (many are connected directly to the Devil as well0. Jesus’ answers and actions are examples for us to strive for…I am in a desert so the post was particularly timely and I can relate to what Jesus must have gone through. I am not sure that i would have had the inner fortitude to resist temptation, but again I guess that is why I am who I am and Jesus thank God is who he is. Great post, thanks for the inspiration!

The desert is a place of great loneliness where we face our deepest self and own demons. And knowing that the temptations of this world were defeated by Jesus is a great source of inspiration and hope.
We can only pray with Our Saviour: ‘ Father, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.’
The desert can also be a place of emptiness where we face our own poverty due to lack of income, health or relations. And this can lead many to desperation. Especially if they give it the first place and priority… unknowing of the Kingdom. And yet…
We can only pray with the Divine Provider : ‘ Father, give us this day, our daily Bread..’
And for us who believe in Him, and walk our path with the Holy and Immaculate… a source of deep consolation. He who takes away the sin of the world
