Happy Carnival!
Thank you for sharing yours!
I have had the privilege to go to Mardi Gras once in my life, I work on ships and travel all over the world and always wanted to go. The jewelry, costumes, jambalaya, drinking, it’s all so festive and fun. This is what sparked my interest to one day go to Brazil and celebrate all the festivities they have to offer in the shape of Mardi Gras. Thanks for this article, loved it!!
Bonjour Jean!
Yes… once caught in the festive movement of a meaningful varnaval … it is hard to forget indeed. Thank you for sharing your experience with mardi Gras….

Carnivals are really special events! Special for each country in which they take place, interesting, cheerful, full of color and playful. We attract visitors, domestic and foreign. It is a real pleasure to be a part of such an event. My wish is to visit the carnival in Rio, I love their music and dance.
Hi Jas!
Cheerful indeed…
many families work a whole year towards this event for the joy of all.
I hope you will make it to Rio…
if you can join local families it will help you to have the real experience from within….
not just a touristic attraction…
In Europe every city and village has its own tradition and customs also.
In the past it was a time where the villagers were allowed to express critical notes with governance. Without being suspended or punished…. free speech…
Today many local carnivals are invaded with tourist and people from elsewhere… it has tarnished the local festivities a lot…
Wishing you all the best. Have a blessed Lent.

I love carnivals. It’s such an enjoyable time to dance and just have fun. Coming from the Caribbean, almost every island has a Carnival celebration time. Some may call the celebration a different name, but it’s basically the same thing. I use to enjoy the happy celebration in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. I also went to the Caribana celebration in Canada.
Oh Carol that sounds wow!
Thank you for sharing the joy!
Have a blessed time
Maria
