Her humble consent
The Incarnation
Of Our Lord
Biblical reference
Luke 1:26-38
The angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel being come in, said unto her:
Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said to her:
Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever. And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
And Mary said to the angel:
How shall this be done, because I know not man?
And the angel answering, said to her:
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren: Because no word shall be impossible with God.
And Mary said:
Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word.
And the angel departed from her.
The Angelus prayer
V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee;
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R. Be it done unto me according to thy word.
Hail Mary. . .
V. And the Word was made flesh.
R. And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary. . .
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Hi
Be blessed
Hello. This is a good article that encouraged me to reflect on the Virgin Mother and to recite the prayers to her. I will be looking forward to tomorrow, 25th March which is Lady Day and it will be filled with reflection on the Virgin mother. Kudos to the author.
She is our mother and knows our hearts… and she is a refuge in difficult times.
Know, she is always around us all, like a caring mother. Have a very blessed Lady Day
Very spiritually uplifting article. You really made my day today. A lot of people don’t talk about the message of the Bible even the so called Christians because they fell people will not want to read them but I love it that you took it upon yourself to talk about the Word of God
What is proclaimed by mouth, descends in our heart. How can the holy message be heard if it is not proclaimed, said saint Paul… we need to speak up again. And stand for our faith. and pray not to fall into temptation. Keep visiting…
On our Lady day, I pay reverence to the blessed virgin Mary, and the sacrifices she made to become the mother of God. The Annunciation of our Lord to the Blessed Virgin Mary is very dear to my heart, and I always walk in the humility of our blessed Virgin Mary, who accepted the will of God for her. With Easter just around the corner, I beseech all Christians, to continue their daily work with God in piety and humility as the blessed Virgin Mary has taught us.
Amen Louis . Amen! let us unite in prayers and fasting according to the divine will…

I am not a catholic, wasn’t raised in a catholic household too but I enjoyed attending the catholic mass on Sundays during my six years in boarding school because of all these readings. They seemed very intentionally orderly. They are easy to memorize and for those who aren’t used to them, there was always a pamphlet containing the readings and I just remembered all the lent seasons I spent in school going to mass and reciting the aunniciation(Lady Day). Fond memories,I must say.
Good morning Valz…, yes… there is great joy in the liturgy. It has grown over the centuries, touching hearts and souls indeed with beauty, truth and Holiness.. Have a blessed Day
Thanks for this informative article, I knew less about this though I’m a Christian but not a catholic, but it a good thing I know about the western Liturgical year, Lady Day is the traditional name of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin in some English-speaking countries. It is the first of the four traditional English quarter days. The “Lady” is the Virgin Mary. thanks for sharing this amazing post.
Hi Seun,
I am blessed by your answer…
She is OUR mother indeed , as Jesus gave her to us on the cross: ‘Son, here is your mother.’ (John 19, 25-27).
Tell me about those four traditional quarter days… never heard of them
Kindly yours
Marayam
