Poem about Thomas, his doubt turned into faith, making of him a missionary and martyr
A story of doubt and faith
In shadows cast by lingering doubt,
Stood Thomas, seeker, questioning throughout.
Yet in his heart, a flicker of hope,
A yearning for truth, a desire to cope.
With eyes that saw the wounds profound,
He sought proof where belief had not yet found.
“Unless I see, unless I touch,
I cannot believe, I doubt so much.“
Then came the risen Lord, standing before,
His scars laid bare, His love to restore.
“Thomas, reach out, and do not fear,
For I am here, your doubts to clear.“
In awe, Thomas touched the wounds so deep,
His doubts transformed, his faith took the leap.
“My Lord, my God,” his words did ring,
A testimony of faith, a truth to sing.
From doubter to believer, transformed inside,
Thomas embraced the mission, no longer to hide.
With courage he journeyed, a missionary bold,
To lands afar, his story to unfold.
In distant India’s ancient land,
Thomas proclaimed the truth, taking a stand.
Through cities and villages, his voice resounded,
A message of hope, by his actions unbounded.
He faced opposition, trials, and strife,
Yet he persevered, his faith as his life.
Till martyrdom claimed him, a sacrifice made,
For the truth he upheld, his path never swayed.
Thomas, the doubter turned apostle true,
A testament to the transformation we can pursue.
From uncertainty to unyielding faith,
From doubt to devotion, he embraced his fate.
May we, like Thomas, find strength to believe,
In the face of doubts, our hearts to retrieve.
And may our lives, like his, boldly proclaim,
The love of our Savior, forever the same.
