Mark 1; 7-8
And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
John 1; 35-37
The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
About the painting
The Ghent Altarpiece represents the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb in St Bavo’s Cathedral, Belgium. Painted by the Early Flemish painters and brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck. A splendor!
Hi Maria! The story of John the Baptist is definitely something that seems to be overlooked at times because there isn’t much talked about him so I do appreciate this post.Question: Now we know that Jesus said that John the Baptist would “prepare the way for [him]” but how powerful do you think John the Baptist was? He never performed miracles like Jesus did (or at least it was not indicated in scriptures), he hated crowds and he was always in the desert. Why do you think crowds would flock to him?Speaking of desert, Im just now seeing another parallel in which John the Baptist lived in a desert until it was time to prepare Jesus and then right after Jesus was baptized, he was lead into the desert for 40 days and nights. That’s supppeeerrrrr interesting when you think of it. It’s literally like John the Baptist carved a road for Jesus.
So it is! John the Baptist is also called the forerunner.
The one who prepared the way by a baptism of conversion.
He said: “I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
The ultimate gift of Jesus.
Turning our hearts to God is a work of conversion
Calling others to do so, is what John the Baptist did:
‘Repent, repent, the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Faith is not about miracles it is accepting Salvation
He died for me…

John the Baptist was certainly a wise man! Being a Catholic myself I have learnt a lot from the lessons of the Bible and try to act on them in daily life. I love little snippets like this as it just refreshes stories and passages that link to other life lessons that we can all take. Thanks so much for sharing
Yes mike… a very powerful Word indeed
like a seed… bearing fruit in its own time.
Thank you for your kind comment.

Hi Maryam,It is very clear from your website that you are a person of faith though looking at your giftware you are from a tolerant faith. I assume from this that you are not a creationist, presumably Roman Catholic and a follower of the tolerant teachings of the current Pontiff?I am always envious of persons of faith mine lapsed many years ago due to life experiences and the overwhelming evidence that I see in science and nature that leads me to believe we are a fortunate biological accident.I have two children who are practising Baptist Christians. I have always believed that my children should make up their own mind and choose their own path when it comes to faith. What are your thoughts? Thanks for writing,Hamish
Dear Hamish…
We all share the same humanity, do we not?
Jesus is the quintessence of what our humanity should be…
And once confronted with that truth, we can only bow
People come to faith in different ways.
Most of us through the ratio of our mind, some by gift
the quest of each is unique and different
Some follow,
some become disciples
only a few are send
Just remember faith is a person…
The incredible gift of God
And God speaks in many ways…
If we accept the silence of our own explanation
and expectations
may you be found, is my humble prayer for you
This site is dedicated to me, along with my mother’s name. And it will inspire many. You must grow in faith in God and hope that God will surely increase his love for the human race and do not despair that the hopes will be fulfilled.Have faith in God never let you down. And thanks so much for sharing a site with us.
Amin.
Peace be with you and yours.,.

Hello Marayam, nice to see you share this post you titled “Behold the Lamb”. The Lamb of God released to humanity is a transformation for humanity. I heard a message on Sunday that John didn’t announce Jesus when he saw Him (Jesus). This verse has cleared the whole misconceptions for me and even my brother. John is indeed great; he prepared the way for Jesus’ coming.I celebrate you!
Always good to read you… Behold the lamb that takes away the sin of the world.
Amen
Thanks for taking your time to bring the good gospel of Christ my way, I just used the link – who was John the Baptist, I have always read the prophesy from Isaiah but did not know that other smaller prophets like Malachi also did too prophesy about him. He also linked the success of Christianity to the goo of John, this is the first time I am seeing it this way
Yes…
Scriptures are fulfilled in many way
Also in our life!
Have a blessed day
Maria
